CBD for children

How Your Child Could Benefit from a Dose of CBD Oil

Cannabis plants are different depending on the type and whether the plant is male or female. When male cannabis plants flower, they don’t produce buds. They also flower earlier than their female counterparts. Another difference between male and female Cannabis is that males usually have thicker stalks than female cannabis plants. Besides, unlike a female plant that has white hair, male plants have what looks like a cluster of grapes.

Cannabis is medicinal, and the stalk can be used for producing hemp fiber which is an excellent alternative material to paper, building materials and plastic. This is because, Cannabis only takes three and a half months to mature, making it a sustainable and eco-friendly material.

CBD Oil Extraction

CBD oil is becoming very common worldwide because of its medicinal benefits. Both THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) and CBD oil are extracted from hemp flowers. However, hemp seed oil comes from the seeds of the hemp plant.

What gets users high and is mostly associated with Cannabis is THC. THC is an active ingredient in marijuana and can move from the lungs, to the bloodstream and into the brain and other organs.

CBD is short for Cannabidiol. CBD is a cannabinoid. It is a non-psychoactive component in Cannabis. The good news is that experts can extract CBD oil without or with minimal amounts of THC from a Cannabis plant. Therefore, you should not fear that CBD oil can make your child high. In this article, we discuss the various benefits of CBD oil to your child.

Various Benefits of CBD Oil to Your Child

There are many products in the market with CBD oil, ranging from capsules, shampoos, hand lotions, gels, vaping liquids, sprays, edibles and tinctures. Furthermore, there are many companies selling these products even though some individuals prefer to extract the oil themselves. But before ordering any product online, check its legality in your state laws.

CBD Oil Can Manage Two Types of Epilepsy

Cannabis is used to treat neurological conditions like epilepsy. The approval in June 2018 by the Food and Drug Administration of a cannabis-derived drug called Epidiolex made many strides in the medicinal use of hemp. The medicine treats two types of epilepsy namely Lennox-Gastaut syndrome and Dravet syndrome. Epidiolex contains CBD and is for use by children who are two years or older. A study indicated that it was more effective than the commonly used placebo in reducing seizure frequencies.

Other Illnesses that CBD Oil Can Treat

Apart from the two types of epilepsy mentioned above, CBD oil has been proven to treat different types of epilepsy, anxiety, autism and sensory processing disorders in children.

Although some doctors don’t approve the use of cannabis in adults let alone children, it has therapeutic effects and symptom relief. Cannabinoids stimulates the endocannabinoid system which usually regulates pain-sensation, moods and appetite. More so, Cannabinoids inhibits tumor growth. This means that Cannabis is a potential in offering therapy to cancer patients.

Worth noting is that CBD has some side effects including diarrhea, fatigue, decreased appetite and sleepiness. It also does not interact well with some seizure drugs. In this regard, careful monitoring is required.

Also, before administering CBD oil to your child, consult a professional medical marijuana doctor on dosage to prevent overdose.
